Ligia Orellana, LMFT #122650, Therapist for Anxiety in Los Angeles, CA

Hi, My Name is Ligia Orellana (She/ Her/Ella)

Have you been feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of who you are underneath everything you’ve had to carry?

Maybe you’ve been the one who holds it all together. The strong one. The one who doesn’t ask for help.
But inside, you feel disconnected—from your emotions, your needs, or even your sense of self.

You might find yourself constantly questioning:
Am I doing enough? Am I too much? What do I actually want?

I can help.

As a therapist in Los Angeles, I support First-Gen, BIPOC, and Queer adults who feel emotionally overwhelmed, stuck in people-pleasing patterns, or disconnected from who they are. Through anxiety therapy and identity-affirming work, we begin to understand your emotions, untangle patterns rooted in guilt, shame, and fear, and help you feel more grounded and clear in your sense of self.

Therapy in Los Angeles —

Help For Anxiety Disorders

So many of the patterns you might be struggling with like anxiety, people-pleasing, or feeling disconnected from yourself are often misunderstood or overlooked.

They can get labeled as “just stress,” “overthinking,” or even part of your personality. But for many First-Gen, BIPOC, and Queer adults, these patterns are deeply rooted in cultural expectations, family dynamics, and early experiences where it didn’t always feel safe to fully be yourself.

Because of this, it can leave you feeling confused, stuck, or even questioning whether what you’re going through is “serious enough” to deserve support.

But your experience matters.

Understanding where these patterns come from—and how they’ve helped you survive—is often the first step toward real change. And the good news is, you don’t have to stay stuck in them.

Healing is possible. Feeling more grounded, more clear, and more like yourself is possible.

And you don’t have to wait until things feel unbearable to reach out for support.

I strive to make therapy for anxiety in Los Angeles with me a place where you do not need to hide parts of yourself you have needed to survive. You are safe to show up fully, and we’ll navigate the healing process together.

Whether you are looking for support around anxiety, relationship stress, people-pleasing, identity, or even wanting to explore the unexplained feeling that has been impacting your ability to feel present in life.

I’m a first-generation Guatemalan-American, cisgendered Latinx Therapist in Los Angeles, California. I have been providing therapy across California for 9 years, supporting adults in finding their internal peace away from pressures and expectations.

My Practice is Deeply Shaped by my commitment to LGBTQIA+ affirming care and my training in both Western and culturally informed healing frameworks. I hold a strong belief that therapy should be collaborative, compassionate, harmonious, and client-centered.

    • B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Gender and Women’s Studies - Cal State Northridge

    • M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy with Certification in LGBTQ+ Human Services and Mental Health - Alliant University

    • Somatic Attachment Therapy Certification - The Embody Lab

    1. The unspoken emotional weight of being a first-generation individual

    2. The tension between self-preservation and self-expression

    3. The grief and guilt that can come with outgrowing old roles or identities

    4. The fear that arises when you want to make changes in your life and relationships to others

  • Healing doesn’t mean becoming a completely different person.

    It can look like:

    • Feeling more connected to your emotions instead of overwhelmed by them

    • Understanding your patterns instead of judging yourself

    • Learning to make decisions that feel aligned with who you are

    • Feeling safer in your body, your relationships, and your identity

You don’t have to keep doing this alone.

  • My path to becoming a therapist started with my own journey.

As a First-Gen Latinx eldest child, I learned early on that being strong, self-sufficient, and emotionally “together” was how I proved my worth. I carried a constant feeling of not being “enough”—for others, and especially for myself.

I believed I had to handle everything on my own. That needing support meant losing control.
But holding onto that independence led to something I didn’t expect—feeling emotionally disconnected from others and from myself.

I didn’t know what I truly wanted, because I didn’t feel safe enough to ask.

Over time, I began to understand my emotions instead of avoiding them. I started unlearning patterns of shame, guilt, and fear, and slowly built a relationship with myself that felt more grounded, more honest, and more at peace.

That journey is what shapes the work I do today.
