FAQS About Therapy in Los Angeles and across California

The idea of starting therapy in Los Angeles Ca for Anxiety can feel uneasy especially if it is your first time. You begin wondering how it works and what to expect — especially if you are preparing for your consultation or first session. Below you will find a list of common questions, in hopes these will answer one of your own. Let’s help you feel more ready!

How Do I Know If I Really Need Therapy for Anxiety?

Clients begin their therapy journey with me once they have exhausted all their options in navigating their struggles on their own. When their typical way of coping with stressors around them with avoidance, distractions, and pushing through is beginning to feel exhausting. I have worked with clients when they begin to practice curiosity with themselves in asking themselves if there is another way to deal with their stressors around relationships a different way that they are not aware of. You do not have to be ready and still be cautious and unsure, just as long as you are open and willing to explore if there is a different way to live than how you have been typically living trying to control everything around you.

How I Help Clients with Anxiety ?

I work through an intersectional and trauma-informed lens, recognizing how past events (whether relational, cultural, or systemic) shape the nervous system. My practice acknowledges that no two clients have the same story, even if they share similar identities.

Anxiety therapy in Los Angeles Ca can offer you tools to self-soothe, develop resilience, and rebuild trust—within yourself and with others. What therapy services do you offer?

I offer Individual Therapy for adults to address concerns around anxiety, people pleasing, healing toxic relationships, and gender/sexual identity exploration. On a case by case basis, some of your sessions can include a partner, friend, or family member which can be discussed throughout our time together.

How often will I need to come to therapy?

Sessions are typically weekly to address concerns in a much more compassionate and timely manner. I find clients who are on weekly sessions to make the fastest progress due to several factors around building rapport and getting to know your story.

How long will I need to come to therapy?

I have come to find typically clients with weekly sessions reach their goals in 6 months. While also keeping in mind, some clients continue longer when wanting to address different goals with me or the complexity of stressors they are experiencing.

What can I expect to happen during our time together?

In the first sessions together, we will dive into your presenting concerns, history of relationships, and developing a therapy goal together. In following sessions we works towards the deeper work in not only giving you the tools and insight to feel your emotions differently. To also learn and practice how to no longer fear your needs. To stop second-guessing your worth. To build relationships that feel aligned with your truth.

What if therapy isn't working?

Discussions of progress are integrated into our work together, meaning this will be an ongoing conversation we will have. I email over a survey throughout our work together where you can share feedback on your wins, struggles, and concerns. If you ever feel you would like to begin your therapy journey with a different therapist, That is okay — it can happen when I am not the right fit for you for one reason or another that is impeding progress. We can have that discussion and we can discuss options of referrals.
